Work-Based Learning

Work-Based Learning offers students the opportunity to connect classroom instruction to the world of work and future career opportunities.

It includes experiential learning, such as professional certification programs, cooperative education, and internships, as well as Career and Technical Education (CTE).

Benefits for students include:

  • Applying classroom learning in real-world settings.
  • Discovering interests, aptitudes, and abilities while exploring career possibilities.
  • Improving post-graduation employment opportunities.
  • Developing and practicing positive work-related habits and attitudes, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, work in teams, and resolve issues professionally.
  • Expanding and refining skills by participating in authentic, job-related tasks.
  • Observing the demeanor and behaviors of professionals in the workplace.
  • Increased motivation and an appreciation for staying in school.
  • Understanding the value of post-secondary education at the community college level and at the university level.
