Community Relations Representatives

Citywide Community Relations Representatives (CRRs) serve to empower parents/guardians of English Learners (ELs) and community residents to support student academic progress and participate in decision making on bilingual education issues on the local school and district levels.

Community Relations Representatives (CRRs) work with schools that have state-mandated programs for English Learners (ELs). They oversee the organization and training of Chicago Multilingual Parent Council (CMPC) members at the district level and of Bilingual Advisory Committees (BACs) members at the local school level. CRRs also provide technical assistance and support to English Learner Liaisons and to staff members working with bilingual parents.

CRRs offer a variety of opportunities for family members to be effectively engaged in their children's education, and for community residents to participate in their schools at both a neighborhood and citywide level.

If you have questions about your student's bilingual education, your school's BAC and the CMPC, and your student's bilingual education program, contact the CRR associated with your network. To identify the network associated with your child’s school, use the Network Locator.

For more information about Community Relations Representatives, please contact Hilda Calderon-Peña, the Lead Bilingual Citywide Community Relations Representative.
