Growth

Student Growth shows the percentage of students making typical progress—or better—toward grade-level expectations.

 -4.3% from previous school year

Growth - Reading

80.7%

 1.8% from previous school year

Where This Data Comes From

  • STAR 360 Assessment: Unlike state tests (like the IAR and ACT) which are administered once a year, STAR 360 is administered multiple times a year. Because Options schools serve students who are often enrolled for shorter periods of time and move between schools, STAR 360 is a better way to capture the progress they are making.
  • Academic Peers: A student’s growth is compared to the growth of students across the country in the same grade with similar past scores.

Why This Matters

Growth shows how much students are learning over time. This measure helps families and schools see if students are learning at a similar or faster pace than their peers and identify groups of students who may need additional support.

What It Can & Cannot Tell You

It Can Tell You:

  • Can highlight how much learning students gained over time.
  • Can identify schools making strong progress.

It Cannot Tell You:

  • Cannot guarantee that every student will reach proficiency at the same rate.
  • Cannot be used alone to judge a school, since student needs and resources also play a role.
