Inclusive & Supportive Learning Environment

Every student needs the right support to stay engaged and grow academically. This section helps families understand how the school monitors student progress, builds supportive classroom environments, and listens to student feedback. These measures show whether students feel supported in their learning and whether the school is helping them stay on track.

Over time, this section will also include information about how schools identify students who need extra help and how they create support plans. That part of the system is still being developed and will be added when it is ready.

This category focuses on academic support inside the classroom, not broader wellbeing or enrichment — those appear in the Connectedness and Wellbeing section.

How the Pieces Fit Together

A supportive classroom environment allows students to feel safe and encouraged. Student surveys give voice to students’ opinions and allow schools to address student feedback and improve their learning experiences. Interventions help students who need extra support stay on track. Together, they support students’ learning and keep them meaningfully engaged.

Example

A school could have a supportive environment, but students are struggling to stay on track. This means students feel encouraged, but they may need more specific academic help. Families could ask how the school uses student feedback and support plans to provide extra help and strengthen learning.
