Postsecondary Success

Every student deserves a strong plan for what comes after high school. This section shows how well the school supports students in graduating, earning early skills or credentials, and finding a meaningful path—whether that’s college, job training, employment, the military, or transition programs for students with significant disabilities.

These measures work together to show whether students leave high school with real choices and the support they need to succeed in the next stage of life.

How the Pieces Fit Together

Graduation tells us who finishes high school. Early career and college opportunities show who gets a head start while still in high school. College enrollment and persistence show who continues into college after high school. Pathway and transition data show who finds a meaningful path after graduation. Together, they give a clear picture of whether students are prepared for their future.

    Example

A school could have many students earning early college and career credentials, but fewer students staying in college after they start. This means students are getting a head start, but they may need more support to adjust to college expectations. Families could ask how the school helps students choose the right path and what support is available after they graduate.
