Specialty Program Certification Designation - Early

Proficiency Based Learning fosters the development of agency, collaboration, adaptability, and leadership by creating learning environments that empower students to co-design their learning path and pace based on their demonstration of proficiency. In proficiency based learning environments, students pace through material based on their demonstration of proficiency on the content, regardless of seat time, meaning they have opportunities to both progress ahead of the pace of the course while earning credit, and also are allotted additional time to demonstrate proficiency when needed. Early schools are ones that are just beginning their proficiency based learning implementation journey. They have begun to assemble a pilot team of teachers to explore and implement proficiency based learning practices. In order to sustain program implementation over time they are working to establish foundational site conditions that align to their proficiency based learning model.
