A Message from the Principal

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! I am proud to welcome our students, families, and community to another school year at Wendell Phillips High School. At Phillips, we are committed to providing a strong daily learning experience while preparing every student for life beyond high school. This year, our work is centered on two priorities that guide everything we do. Effective Instruction We are strengthening what happens in every classroom, every day. Students will engage in grade level content, think critically, and produce high quality work that shows their understanding. Our focus is on clear expectations, strong teaching, and consistent learning experiences so all students grow and achieve. Postsecondary Success We are ensuring students have clear pathways after graduation. This includes access to rigorous courses, career exploration, and real world experiences that prepare them for college, careers, and other opportunities. Every student will leave Phillips with a plan and the skills to take their next step with confidence. Our work is grounded in our 3 Es: Excellence, Effectiveness, and Efficiency, which guide how we teach, lead, and support our school community each day. We are also proud of our strong partnerships with colleges and universities, workforce and career organizations, and community-based partners that expand opportunities, provide resources, and meet the diverse needs of our students. We believe in our students, we believe in our community, and we are committed to building a school where strong daily learning leads to powerful futures. As a proud part of the Bronzeville community, Phillips continues to serve as a cornerstone for opportunity, growth, and excellence for our students and families. Rashad Talley, Principal
