A Message from the Principal

Murray Language Academy is a world language magnet school located in Chicago’s historic Hyde Park neighborhood—just steps away from the University of Chicago and the Museum of Science and Industry. At Murray, every student from kindergarten through eighth grade studies a world language—Mandarin, French, or Spanish—building global awareness and cultural appreciation from an early age. We believe that family involvement is essential to every child’s success. Our families play a key role in shaping the Murray experience both inside and outside the classroom. We’re proud to have an active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), a dedicated Parent Mentor Program, the Men of Murray group, a Parent Advisory Council (PAC), and a very active Local School Council (LSC). Together, these groups help strengthen our school community through collaboration, service, and advocacy. Whether supporting events like the World Language Fair, Science Fair, Literacy Night, or the End-of-Year Fun Fair, or volunteering in classrooms and committees, Murray parents ensure our school remains vibrant, connected, and deeply rooted in partnership between home and school.
