The OSD FAB is a community of dedicated families of students with disabilities with a shared interest to support students by enhancing special education support and services.
The OSD FAB provides a space for monthly collaboration focused on students with disabilities in CPS. Uniting families, CPS staff, community agencies, and ISBE, the OSD FAB helps to influence positive outcomes for all students with disabilities and their families.
During the monthly 90-minute meetings, OSD FAB provides regular feedback from families and the community, allowing the OSD to make data-driven decisions that align with the lived experiences of those directly impacted by their services.

Ready, Set, School: Preparing for a Strong Start
Join the Office for Students with Disabilities Parent University, in collaboration with Family Matters Parent Training and Information Center (FMPTIC), as we share guidance and resources to help students with disabilities—and their families— learn:
-Explore tips for reviewing IEPs,
-Establishing routines, and,
-Helping your child transition successfully into the new school year.
This workshop is a part of Your Child, Your Voice Series that offers opportunities throughout the summer for families of children with disabilities to gain the essential tools, confidence, and knowledge to navigate the special education system with ease.

Child Find Developmental Screening - Austin-Irving Branch Library
Join the Office for Students with Disabilities’ Child Find Team at the Austin-Irving Branch Library to receive a FREE early childhood developmental screening.
On a first-come first-serve basis, the Child Find team will provide developmental screenings that can indicate if a child is having difficulties with cognitive/academic, communication, social-emotional, and fine/gross motor skills. A hearing and vision screening are also available.
Child Find is a process that focuses on children who are:
NOT currently enrolled in a special education program at a Chicago Public School (including students attending a non-public school within the City of Chicago),
NOT enrolled in a Head Start or Preschool For All (PFA) program
Receiving Early Intervention (EI) services
Are suspected of having a disability,
Are living within the City of Chicago
Additional screenings are held monthly at several Chicago Public Libraries across the city. No appointment is necessary.
