A Message from the Principal

A Message from the Principal

Clay offers students a high quality rigorous curriculum aligned to the CCSS as well as a focus on social-emotional health and well-being in the Hegewisch neighborhood. As Clay Tigers, we pride ourselves on being diverse, inclusive and supportive of all of our students, families and community stakeholders and work hard to ensure that our students receive a high quality education focused on the "whole child." We offer students and families with a variety of wrap around supports through our community partnerships including CISC (Communities in Schools of Chicago), Girls, Inc., Urban Initiatives, etc. and we offer a wide range of extracurricular after school programs to engage our scholars including academic support, EL tutoring, Homework Help, boys & girls volleyball, basketball, soccer, girls track and field, flag football, Hip Hop dance, Cheerleading, hair braiding, baking, pod casts, SEL circles, obstacle course, theater, etc. We offer 4 holistic classes per week including PE, Visual Art and Music. Under the direction of our music teacher, we have an emergent school band that performs at local events in and around our neighborhood. We offer Spanish and Algebra to our middle school students and also prioritize individualized targeted interventions through our MTSS program.
