School Vision    At Mt Vernon Elementary School our vision is to equip every student with the skills necessary to be critical thinkers, advocates of change, and innovative leaders throughout higher education, career, &  civic life.

School Mission  We provide an equitable and learner-driven approach where each student  identifies a pathway to success by engaging in rigorous instruction coupled with socio-emotional skill development and meaningful leadership opportunities that prepares them for civic and community engagement.

Personalized Learning is a learner-driven instructional model that fosters 21st century skills by empowering every student to actively co-design their learning path, pace, and environment according to their individual needs, strengths, and interests.Personalized Learning Components

Learner Agency:   At Mount Vernon,  students actively engage in the learning process through deep reflection on their interests, strengths, work habits, needs, and goals.

Social Emotional Learning:   At Mount Vernon, we seamlessly integrate SEL practices into our classrooms. Through targeted SEL time, students develop the skills to guide their learning through personalized needs assessments.

Tailored Learning:  At Mount Vernon, we create personalized pathways for students to achieve their unique goals.

Authentic Learning:  At Mount Vernon, we create learning experiences that build on school-community relationships using authentic learning beyond the classroom.
