7th Grade, 8th Grade Details
Academic Centers, housed in high schools, offer high-achieving students the opportunity to take advanced classes. Students attending Academic Centers can continue at their current school when they enter 9th grade without needing to reapply. Application and Selection Details Additional Screening
Regional Gifted Centers Test Selection Type
All selective enrollment programs use a points-based selection process. For this program, an applicant's final grades from the previous school year and composite score on the Regional Gifted exam are converted to points using a rubric. Students are selected in descending total point order, with top scorers chosen first. For entry-level (7th grade) selections only, a student's socioeconomic tier will be considered in the selection process (see the Preferences & Priorities section below for more details). Students living in the attendance area are guaranteed a seat and do not need to submit an application. All students living outside the attendance area must submit an application. Students who live outside of the school's attendance boundary are randomly selected by computerized lottery. Those students with the minimum GPA of 2.3 or higher are eligible to be selected.
