                            Overview Grades Served Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, 5th Grade, 6th Grade, 7th Grade, 8th Grade Details Two-way dual language programs aim for a 50:50 balance of English Learners (ELs) and non-ELs in the classroom. Students serve as language models to each other as they acquire the second language. Two-way dual language programs provide instruction in two languages: Spanish and English. Students receive core instruction (language arts, math, science, social science) through a second language with the goal of all students becoming bilingual and biliterate in both Spanish and English. Application and Selection Details Selection Type Applicants are selected by random computerized lottery. If the program has priority groups, students in those groups are selected in the order listed. In STEAM classrooms, students will: actively make sense of and construct solutions to complex questions; productively contribute to the learning community to support a culture of collaboration, risk-taking, and innovation; and regularly reflect on and communicate their understanding of disciplinary ideas.
