A Message from the Principal

Welcome to Douglass Academy High School—The Jewel of the Westside, proudly rooted in the Austin community. At Douglass, we provide a close-knit, small-school environment where every student is known by name. This personal connection allows us to shape a positive narrative for our students—one that empowers them to rise above the challenges they may encounter outside our walls. Our educators deliver explicit instruction in positive character development, supported by clear and consistent behavioral expectations that guide students toward success. We are committed to nurturing both the academic and social growth of every learner. Douglass Academy offers a Comprehensive Student Supports Program, staffed to meet the unique needs of our diverse student population. Through our two-teacher instructional model, students receive targeted Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports within the general education classroom. Additional small-group and individualized interventions are provided for students who may enter below grade level or face academic challenges. Our dedicated team of stakeholders works collaboratively to design individualized support plans that ensure each student receives the tools, guidance, and encouragement needed to thrive. Upon graduation, Douglass Academy students are equipped with the academic skills, social competencies, and confidence necessary to become productive and responsible citizens. Douglass Academy High School—The Jewel of the Westside, where failure is not an option.
