A Message from the Principal

I am delighted to extend a warm and enthusiastic welcome to all students, parents, and community members to the new academic year at John B. Drake Elementary School. As we embark on this educational journey together, I am excited to share our commitment to fostering excellence in education, equity, and a positive school environment. . Our continuous improvement efforts are centered around enhancing our curriculum and instruction practices. Our educators are committed to staying abreast of the latest pedagogical approaches and research-backed strategies. Doing so ensures that our students receive the most relevant, engaging, and effective educational experience possible. At Drake, we celebrate diversity and embrace the strength that comes from different perspectives and experiences. Creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment is paramount to us. We are fully dedicated to ensuring that every student feels valued, respected, and included. Drakes 3 Big Rocks are: Literacy- Provide High-quality Tier 1 instruction in all content areas; ensure that reading math, science, and social studies are aligned to the CSS; ensure that science is aligned to NGSS; and provide intervention/enrichment for all students according to their learning needs. Targeted Universalism- (TU) is an approach to equity work that recognizes groups of people have differing needs and require specific support to reach the same goal. Positive Culture and Climate- Establish a school-wide behavior management system and implement a positive system of support that focuses on the SEL needs of all students. As we embark on this academic year, I am grateful for your ongoing partnership in the education of our students. Your involvement, dedication, and support are invaluable to us, and together, we will continue to nurture a learning community where every individual can thrive.
