A Message from the Principal

Welcome to Newberry Academy—home of the Bobcats! At Newberry, our vision is simple and powerful: Leaders Grow Here. Every day, we work to cultivate a positive, safe, and academically rigorous environment where students are empowered to grow—not just as learners, but as whole people and future leaders. Grounded in our mission, we offer mathematically and scientifically integrated opportunities that challenge and nurture every child. As we look ahead, we’re guided by the words of educator Muriel Summers: "We only have one chance to prepare students for a world that no one could possibly predict." That truth shapes everything we do. This year, our theme is Joyful Curiosity—recognizing that students learn best when they are engaged, excited, and yes, even a little messy in their learning. Curiosity often leads to mistakes, but it also leads to discovery, growth, and confidence. We believe that cultivating this joyful spirit is key to helping students take risks, ask questions, and develop into creative, compassionate leaders. We also know that safety and belonging are the foundations for learning. That’s why this year we are deepening our commitment to restorative practices, ensuring every student, family member, and staff member feels heard, respected, and supported. When we hold space for repair, reflection, and reconnection, we strengthen the relationships that make real learning possible. Whether you're a returning family or new to our community, we’re excited to partner with you in the journey ahead. At Newberry, we are growing together—with joy, with curiosity, and with a shared belief in the incredible potential of every child. Joyously yours, Megan Clendening Principal, Newberry Academy
