A Message from the Principal

A Message from the Principal

My name is Tenesha Hatter, and I am the proud principal of Schmid Elementary School. Schmid is a vibrant, neighborhood school with a rich generational legacy. We are deeply committed to creating a warm, welcoming environment where all stakeholders—scholars, families, staff, and community partners—feel a true sense of belonging and purpose. We are known for our continued academic growth and our wide range of extracurricular programs that serve scholars across all grade levels. At Schmid, we believe every scholar deserves a rigorous, integrated curriculum that challenges them to think critically and achieve at high levels. Driven by data and anchored in high expectations, our work is grounded in a relentless pursuit of excellence. We are proud of our partnerships with organizations such as Chicago State University, Cottage Grove Heights Community Coalition, Brotherhood, the Museum of Science and Industry, and Communities In Schools. Together, we are expanding opportunities and enriching experiences for our scholars. Our vision is clear: to cultivate confident, capable, compassionate critical thinkers who strive for excellence in all they do. We are SCHMID CHARGERS—and we charge toward excellence, together.p>
