Advanced Placement for All. No Exceptions. Every Social Justice High School (SOJO) student takes Advanced Placement coursework — not a select few. All four years are vertically aligned around one throughline: Identity - Perspective -Justice - Action — culminating in the FIRE Project. SOJO was born from the Little Village and North Lawndale communities' desire to keep the hunger strike's values of peace and equity alive for every graduate. We prepare students for careers in civic leadership, environmental justice, law, community advocacy, the nonprofit sector, entrepreneurship, and other fields that students aspire to be leaders in. Our unique workforce development program supports a cohort of students to secure paid out-of-school jobs tied to attendance, plus mentorship and career exploration that turn class time into opportunity.

State of the School

The State of the School address provides a robust community forum to reflect on the past year's progress, discuss future priorities, and align school goals with the District's five-year strategic plan, "Success 2029: Together We Rise."
