A Message from the Principal

At Tubman Elementary, we believe every student deserves a safe, supportive, rigorous, and equitable educational experience. We are proud to be both a Fine and Performing Arts Magnet Cluster School and an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering our students the opportunity to think deeply, create freely, and act globally. Whether your child is beginning their first school experience in Pre-K or preparing for high school in our middle grades, Tubman is a place where every learner is known, valued, and encouraged to reach their fullest potential. We are proud of our academic growth — including a 20% increase in literacy proficiency over the past year — and continue to focus on accelerating outcomes for all learners. Our curriculum includes Skyline, Envision Math, Amplify Science, and Into Reading. For students ready for more, we offer advanced math pathways, including compacted courses in middle school that prepare students for high school-level content. Our teachers meet regularly to analyze data, personalize instruction, and provide targeted interventions and enrichment to meet each child’s needs. Tubman offers the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP), which nurture globally minded learners through inquiry-based instruction. Students explore big ideas, develop research and communication skills, and reflect on their role in the world. The IB curriculum helps students make connections between local and global issues, ask meaningful questions, and build intercultural understanding. Our dedicated educators bring talent, expertise, and heart to their work every day. From classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to specials instructors and support staff, every adult at Tubman is committed to our students' success and well-being. Equally important is our partnership with families. We engage parents through communication, events, and leadership opportunities, including the Local School Council and Friends of Tubman. We also offer enrichment opportunities like after-school clubs, competitive sports, student council, field trips, and family nights. Families choose Tubman because of our: - Vibrant Fine and Performing Arts integration - Rigorous, inquiry-based IB instruction - Strong academic growth and personalized support - Emphasis on whole-child development - Inclusive, welcoming school culture - Dedicated and passionate staff - Strong family and community partnerships
