The Public Policy Department maintains collaborative partnerships with elected leaders while overseeing the planning, development, and execution of state legislation and municipal ordinances that affect Chicago’s public schools.

Departments

  • Intergovernmental Affairs

    The Department of Intergovernmental Affairs represents the interests of the Chicago Public Schools and the students it serves before other governmental bodies, including the City of Chicago, the Illinois General Assembly and various state offices. These services include working with the many schools and departments at CPS to provide information on CPS programs and initiatives to public officials and agencies. The Department of Intergovernmental Affairs also maintains an office in Washington, D.C., to represent the district at the federal legislative and administrative level.

  • Family and Community Engagement (FACE)

    FACE partners with parents/guardians, educators, local businesses, churches, community organizations, and other stakeholders to strengthen the connections between our schools and our communities and improve educational outcomes for all students.

  • Local School Council Relations

    The Office of Local School Council Relations supports Local School Councils by providing training, support, and mediation, and conducting LSC Elections every even-numbered year.
