Transitioning Acero Schools

Beginning in the fall of 2026, five Acero Schools — Casas, Cisneros, Fuentes, Santiago and Tamayo — will join the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) family as District-managed schools, and we want to build this future together.

Welcome to Your School’s New Chapter

We're excited to build this future together and support you every step of the way as we facilitate your child’s transition into a CPS-managed school. This transition follows a February 2025 resolution approved by the Chicago Board of Education that required CPS to transition five schools from the Acero Network to new CPS, District-managed schools by summer 2026. On this site, you'll find important updates, opportunities, and a space to share your voice as it relates to the new schools opening in July 2026.

Advisory Council Members

The voting window for each school’s Advisory Council opened on Friday, September 19th, and closed on Thursday, September 25th. Advisory Council membership can be viewed for each school below. Official poll results can be viewed here.

Please keep in mind that:

  • All voting took place electronically via Google Form, and the submitted survey forms served as the electronic ballots used to tabulate votes for Advisory Council member candidates.
  • Each voter was only allowed to submit one ballot for the school community of which they were a member.
  • In order to be officially seated on the Advisory Council, each candidate needed to receive at least one vote.
  • The total number of members and stakeholder group breakdown (parent, community representative, staff) of each school’s Advisory Council is aligned to the specific feedback submitted earlier this school year during the Spring Listening Sessions, and the community survey that closed on September 12th. You can review this information by school in the presentation slides from the September 15th Community Incubation Meeting linked on this page below.

Community Incubation Meeting

Chicago Public Schools values your partnership with us as your ideas, advocacy, and feedback will continue to guide our approach and all decision-making as we support your school’s successful transition into the District by the summer of 2026.

Thank you for attending one of the inaugural SY25-26 Acero Community Incubation Meeting sessions that took place on September 15 via Zoom. In case you were not able to attend, please find all presentation slides for the main session, as well as the school-specific breakout sessions with network leaders, linked below.
