Community

We know the great value and many benefits to students and neighborhoods when community members are involved in local schools. That’s why we offer residents and community partners so many opportunities to actively engage with CPS to enrich the educational experiences of students, advance their own learning, influence decision making, and improve their neighborhoods.

School Model Exploration

As more communities explore pathways for strengthening school choices in their neighborhoods, CPS has consistently been asked for support in how they can better navigate the process. Because CPS is committed to supporting our communities, we have documented best practices from other schools that have gone through adapting their school models to ensure that communities have access to our lessons learned.

Service Learning Community Partners

CPS believes so strongly in the value of service learning that we made it a graduation requirement, and we look to community organizations and agencies to play an integral role in shaping this program. Community groups are co-educators who bring specific expertise in the issues related to their organizations and in most cases the communities they serve.

Service Learning Community Partners are useful to every stage of service learning. They can assist in the preparation stage by deepening student’s knowledge of issues, serve as a hub where the actual action takes place, and facilitate discussions that allow students to merge course content with their service experience.
