Back to Our Future as a Solution
The closing of in-person learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in the level students becoming disconnected from their CPS school communities. Disengagement has resulted in higher levels of young people becoming victims of violence, experiencing mental health issues, increased substance usage, and economic disparities along with impacts to graduation, attendance and expulsion rates. With the need for a call to action, Back to Our Future was developed as the answer to keeping our youth safe and re-connected to their bright futures!
B2OF Supports
Back to Our Future will reach 1,000 disconnected youth ultimately, re-engaging and connecting them back to CPS schools or education completion opportunities.
B2OF supports:
- Disconnected Youth 14-20 years old
- Disengaged from CPS for *18+ months or a history of chronic absenteeism (*varies by individual)
- Disconnected youth with involvement in the juvenile justice system
- Disconnected youth experiencing the effects of violence in their communities

The 9-12 month program will provide safety, a system of support, economic opportunity and a warm transition back into an educational setting, resulting in significant progress in and around school communities and improved outcomes for youth across the city of Chicago!
B2OF offers:
- 12 weeks of paid skills & workforce development training
- High-level mentorship and life coaching
- Mental health and trauma support/clinical services
- Family support through direct social services connection
- Supported transition and re-connection back to education system
