Family Advisory Board Meetings

The ODLSS Family Advisory Board (formerly known as ODLSS Parent Advisory Council) is a community of families with diverse learner students who have a shared interest in collaborating with ODLSS to support students by enhancing special education support and services.

The Family Advisory Board meets monthly with ODLSS to discuss diverse learner issues and provide input on policy, training, and special education programming.

ODLSS Parent University

Parent University meetings are held monthly and are open to the general public. Meetings are recorded. These meetings provide empowering learning experiences to the parents/guardians of children with disabilities to help them support their child’s academic success, further their own education, and promote advocacy for their diverse learner.

Parent Universities offer parents, guardians, and community members access to learning experiences on a broad array of topics at CPS school sites across the city.  These training sessions are offered at no cost. Past topics include an overview of the Individualized Education Program (IEP), executive functioning, compensatory education, and other special education related topics.
