CHICAGO — Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is inviting students and families to start the 2023-2024 school year strong by attending a back-to-school bash in their community. The District is hosting 13 back-to-school celebrations across the city to allow new and returning students and families to connect with their school prior as we prepare for the first day of school on August 21. The first celebration will take place on July 21 at Davis Square Park, with additional events attended by City and District officials throughout July and August.

“As we get ready to start a new school year, it is important to make sure students and families have the resources they need to set themselves up for success,” said CPS CEO Pedro Martinez. “We are excited to welcome students and families back to school and to help them access the resources and supports they need to succeed academically, mentally, socially, and emotionally this year. We look forward to seeing all our students, educators, families, and school support staff when we start school on August 21.”

Students and families will be able to enjoy music, food, games, and other activities at the District’s back-to-school bashes. CPS staff and volunteers will also be available to help answer questions about the upcoming school year. Families can also meet with school leaders, access necessary school supplies, and access health resources during the events.
