Enroll This Year (SY22-23)

All children between the ages of 5 and 21 who live in Chicago are eligible for enrollment in a Chicago Public School.

The Board of Education establishes policies that govern the enrollment process and requirements for Chicago Public Schools. Families visit their school to enroll their student at the start of Pre-K, elementary school, and high school. Students who are transferring at any grade level are also required to enroll at their new school.

The first time a child enrolls in a district school, the parent, legal guardian, or temporary caregiver must present proof of their child’s age and Chicago residency, and the required medical forms before the start of the school year.

Students who are in temporary living situations and unaccompanied homeless youth are immediately enrolled in a school without any of the normally required documents. Learn more about eligibility and resources for students in temporary living situations.

For enrollment information at schools that are not managed by CPS, contact the school directly.
