Work-Study Program

The Federal Work-Study Program provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses.

The work-study program encourages community service work and work related to the student’s course of study. Only FAFSA-eligible students can be considered for and benefit from this type of financial aid program.

Students are considered for the Federal Work-Study Program when they submit the FAFSA. Funds are limited, so students should submit their applications early. Decisions are based on three considerations:

  • The date FAFSA was submitted
  • The student’s level of financial need
  • The school's funding level

Work-study jobs may relate to a student's course of study or involve community service. Jobs may be on- or off-campus.

Both part-time and full-time students may be eligible for work-study jobs. Students earn at least federal minimum wage.
