We have compiled a list of pediatric COVID-19 testing sites in the Chicago area to help families and schools connect symptomatic students to health services.

Find a Testing Site

CPS has verified a list of locations that offer pediatric COVID-19 testing from information provided by the city of Chicago. Testing centers may require an appointment and many sites have a minimum age limit.

Is your child experiencing symptoms of COVID?

Symptoms of COVID-19 are similar in adults and children and can look like symptoms of other common illnesses such as colds, strep throat, or allergies. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 in children are fever and cough, but children may have any of these signs or symptoms of COVID-19:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Nasal congestion or runny nose
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Stomachache
  • Tiredness
  • Headache
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Poor appetite or poor feeding, especially in babies under 1 year old

Keep your child home and call their healthcare provider if your child gets sick

If your child has symptoms and may have been exposed to the virus that causes COVID-19 or has been in an area where the virus is spreading, call your child’s healthcare provider to discuss whether your child needs to be evaluated or tested for COVID-19.

While waiting for your child's test results, follow these steps to help keep your household healthy and safe.

  • Wash your hands often and thoroughly. Have everyone in the household wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 percent alcohol. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Wear a mask when caring for your child. If your child is in diapers, consider wearing gloves when you change their diaper.
  • Maintain good airflow: Fresh air can help. If the weather permits, open windows to make sure that shared spaces in the home have good airflow.
  • Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces daily. This includes counters, tabletops, doorknobs, bathroom fixtures, toilets, keyboards and bedside tables.
  • If your child is displaying COVID-19 symptoms, they should isolate in a specific room away from other people as much as possible and should use a separate bathroom if available. Remind them to cover their mouth and nose when they sneeze or cough and to wear a mask when they leave their room or are around other people.
  • Avoid sharing household items such as dishes, drinking glasses, towels or bedding with your child if they are displaying COVID-19 symptoms. You should also wash these items thoroughly after your child uses them.
