The LSCAB was established in 1996 by the Chicago Board of education, pursuant to the Illinois School Code. It is comprised of both elected and appointed currently-serving LSC members. The LSCAB serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Education on issues related to LSC elections, operations, powers and duties, and school improvement plans.
In addition to advising the Board, the LSCAB serves as a liaison between LSC members and senior staff, and advises the Board of Education on other issues regarding the District. Learn more about membership, governance and duties in the LSCAB Operational Guidelines.
