Transitioning ChiArts High School

Beginning in the fall of 2026, the Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts) will join the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) family as a District-managed school, and we want to build this future together.

Welcome to Your School’s New Chapter

We're excited to build this future together and support you every step of the way as we facilitate your child’s transition into a CPS-managed school. This transition follows a November 2025 decision approved by the Chicago Board of Education to establish ChiArts as a District-managed fine and performing arts high school after winding down its current form. This will take effect in the 2026-2027 School Year. The Board also took the unanimous position that the District will keep exploring financial alternatives while conducting further public engagement in its continued efforts to preserve the conservatory model of ChiArts. On this site, you'll find important updates, as well as opportunities to share your voice as it relates to the new district-managed CHiArts HS opening in July 2026.

Advisory & Design Leadership Council Updates

In January 2026, the Advisory & Design Leadership Council, composed of parents, staff, students, and community representatives, will support the successful transition and incubation process of the ChiArts community going forward.
