Local School Council Advisory Board (LSCAB)

The role of the Local School Council Advisory Board (LSCAB) is to advise the Board on issues related to Local School Council elections, operations, powers and duties, and school improvement plans.

Pursuant to the Illinois School Code, in 1996, the Chicago Board of Education established a Local School Council Advisory Board (LSCAB) comprised of both elected and appointed currently-serving LSC members.

In addition to advising the Board, the LSCAB serves as a liaison between Local School Council members and senior staff and advises the Board of Education on other issues regarding the school district, as requested.

2025 LSCAB Elections

All LSC members are invited to vote in the 2025 LSCAB elections. Voting will take place from February 10, 2025 to April 2, 2025 for the six regions of LSCs. Below you'll find voting instructions, information about each candidate, and dates for upcoming candidate forums. 

Election Timeline

  • Nomination filing period: September 25, 2025 to January 9, 2025
  • Candidate forums: February 4-6, 2025
  • Voting period: February 10, 2025 to April 2, 2025
  • Tally of Results: April 24, 2025
  • Term Begins: July 1, 2025

Election Voting Instructions

LSC members may vote in the elections by electronic or paper ballot. Please pick one method of voting. Any member who votes using both a paper ballot and an electronic ballot will have their electronic vote disqualified.

  • Paper ballot instructions: LSC Members may vote by paper ballot during an LSC meeting in February 2025 or March 2025. Members may request a paper ballot from the principal if the council does not meet during these times, or if the member misses the meeting where voting occurred. After completing the vote, place the ballot in a sealed envelope. Members must sign the Voter Verification sheet and give the principal the sealed envelope with the ballot. Principals email a copy Verification to LSCABElections@cps.edu.
  • Electronic ballot instructions: LSC members may request an electronic ballot by emailing LSCABElections@cps.edu or completing the electronic ballot request form. LSC members can request an electronic ballot from February 1, 2025 until March 19, 2025. LSC members' school membership will be verified before they receive an electronic ballot and security code to vote. After member verification, the LSC member will be sent an electronic ballot. All electronic votes must be submitted by April 2, 2025 at noon. The principal will send the sealed paper ballots to OLSCR by April 3, 2025.
