Project Controls

Project Controls is responsible for federal, state and local regulatory compliance, Facilities Quality Management System(QMS) planning, development, training and implementation including internal and external quality assurance/control audits as well as all vendor contract development, compliance management, cost controls and services delivery performance monitoring, periodically collecting, compiling vendors key performance performance (KPI) data analytics and dashboard reporting for future decision making and competitive industry benchmarking.

For facilities emergency requests requiring immediate action to address facilities situations that present immediate or imminent danger to life, health, safety, security or significant damage to buildings, equipment or other property, please call the CPS Facilities Service Center at 1-833-575-3020. Do not continue with this request online. The call center will immediately create this service request on your behalf. For all other requests please complete the online request form.

Submit Service Request

Submitting service requests and work orders for your facility is simple and easy with our online request portal. Principals, administrators and network chiefs are invited to log into the portal to submit service requests.

Services

The following services are managed by the Project Controls discipline under the Department of Facilities.

  • Automated External Defibrillators (AED) Accessibility and Maintenance

    Automated, portable medical device programmed to analyze heart rhythm, recognize rhythms that require defibrillation and provide visual and voice prompts for the device operator to deliver an electric shock if indicated. CPS is required to have fully functional and rescue ready AED available in every active and occupied school facility to be used for life threatening Cardio-Vascular emergencies.

  • Building Code Compliance

    • Identifies, tracks, corrects and responds to Department of Building inspection violations, findings and observations in order to ensure continued compliance required by the city building codes.
    • Identifies, tracks, corrects and responds to City of Chicago conveyance inspection findings and violations in order to ensure full compliance with their requirements.
    • Identifies, tracks, corrects and responds to City Fire Department fire/safety code violations.
  • Public Health Inspection/Code compliance

    By the mandates of the Illinois Department of Public Health, it is the responsibility of CPS Facilities to ensure all relevant health code compliance requirements are being adequately met and tracked.

  • Streets & Sanitation Violations

    Oversee CPS owned, operated and leased properties and vacant lots are being maintained in full compliance with city Department of Street and Sanitation regulations and guidelines.

  • Internal/External Compliance Audits

    Oversees, plans, develops, schedules, manages and analyzes data/reports of both internal facilities services audits.

  • Quality Management Systems and Facilities Data Analytics

    Plans, develops and implements CPS Facilities standard operating policies, procedures, work instructions.and guidelines. Routinely analyzes Facilities quality and operational performance data, documents and records for dashboard reporting on monthly and quarterly basis
